The goals of the research program in the McPhail Center are to perform novel and innovative research that will benefit sport horses by providing insights into the mechanics of athletic performance and the effects of lameness. Biomechanical research is driven by technology, and our ability to perform cutting-edge research is dependent on having access to state-of-the-art equipment and software, and on being able to attract experienced researchers to direct the research studies. At the present time, our most pressing need is for personnel, including graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and research associates. The following list indicates the dollar amounts needed for each of these positions, but gifts of any amount are welcome.

Research associates or post-doctoral fellowships: $45,000 per annum (includes fringe benefits).

Graduate student assistantships start at $15,000 per annum for a half-time assistantship.

In addition, projects that require funding include the following:

Study of the effects of longeing: $60,000.
