The mission of the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences is to create a renowned scholarly community through which large animal clinical sciences may be imparted to students, expanded by research, and extended to the public for the benefit of animal and human health. Specifically, the mission of the department is to:

1. Provide state-of-the-art educational programs in large animal clinical sciences as part of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree program and the Veterinary Technology program.
   
   
2. Provide high-quality graduate degree programs leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in large animal clinical sciences.
   
   
3. Create new knowledge in large animal clinical sciences.
   
   
4. Disseminate relevant information through publication of journal articles, newsletters, books, cooperative extension service activities, and other suitable channels.
   
   
5. Provide state-of-the-art expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic services relative to large animal clinical sciences.
