How to Submit Samples
The Bernese Mountain Dog DNA Repository welcomes the submission of both blood samples and cheek swabs. For RNA analysis, the Repository is also interested in collecting fresh frozen tumor samples from dogs that are affected. Since correct diagnosis of each tumor is critical for the quality of the Repository, we also encourage the diagnostic work-up of each case. We ask everyone to submit a formalin-fixed tissue sample for histopathology to the Diagnositc Center for Population and Animal Health at Michigan State University. Please utilize the following flow chart to acquire detailed collection and shipping instructions for each sample type that the Repository welcomes.
